Appearance: white crystalline, odourless, with citric acid-like acidity. Stable in dry air, the impure and many natural products can be oxidized by air and light, the water quickly oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid. Alkaline reaction between iron and copper can cause acceleration. Metal salts can form stable, as relatively strong reducing agent, discoloration after prolonged storage deep into varying degrees of light yellow. 1G soluble in water 3ml, 30mL alcohol, 50ml alcohol
Use: biochemical studies. Determination of arsenic, iron, phosphorus and iodine reference reagent. Chromatographic reagents. Food antioxidants. Masking agents. Reducing agents. Determination of bismuth, calcium, magnesium, titanium, molybdenum, tungsten and antimony. Determination of epinephrine
Save: RT, evades the light, avoid contact with metal
