Use: biochemical studies. Combined with the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibit bacterial protein synthesis. Antimicrobial spectrum similar to kanamycin, but weak antibacterial. Escherichia coli, Klebsiella genus of Enterobacteriaceae bacteria such as Proteus good antimicrobial activity of some Staphylococcus (methicillin-susceptible isolates), Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis bacteria also have better role and Streptococcus are weak role of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and anaerobic bacteria.
